Where It All Began

Keith Ross and his wife Kryztyna moved to Sequim Washington, on a whim, in October of 2015 after selling their home in Wenatchee, and fell in love with the area. The natural beauty, and especially the abundance of birds and wildlife, spurred on their shared passion for photography. Keith has since invested himself fully into capturing unique and crisp images of the local wildlife and landscapes.

Just two years after starting a journey using self-taught techniques, and taking thousands of images to refine his skills, he was invited by the Olympic Peaks Camera Club to present a seminar on how to photograph wildlife. Keith created a two-hour presentation, sharing what he learned along the way, on all aspects of bird & wildlife photography techniques, equipment and settings, and presented to a full house of members and guests. This has evolved into a teaching role, now offered as a one-on-one, all day class for any skill level of photographer, including beginners.

At about the same time, he was asked to take over the photographer position for the Sequim Irrigation Festival by Ernst Ulrich Schafer, a premier award-winning photographer in Washington. With some coaching on studio lighting from Ernst, he created a home studio, and an outdoor studio on his property, and has formed his own style of portrait photography. He photographed the Pageant Royalty at his studios, and at the events. He covered all of the 2018 season of the Irrigation Festival events and shows, photographed the Sequim Ballet performance of the Nutcracker.

Keith has elevated his skills, producing sharp high-quality images, consistently, and has become very well-known and respected in the area. He also created a Facebook group in July 2017, Sequim Outdoors, for the regional artists to be able to freely post images from the entire Olympic Peninsula, and in doing so has spawned a social network of local talents, to share ideas and information, and form friendships, and he hosts get togethers, and classes, for other artists. The driving force behind his efforts is to foster growth, provide encouragement, inspiration, and opportunities for the talented Olympic Peninsula photographer and artist community. And it is working!

He has built an online business which includes sales of prints, custom framing & matting, portrait & event photography, art reproductions, commercial product marketing images, reproduction of original art and images for local artists for resale, photography classes, as well as digital image editing classes. He also provides services for individuals needing images digitally edited, repaired, and reprinted, using the highest quality Canon Pro series printer, both 44 inch and 17 inch wide /12 color inkjet printers, and high quality printing papers, canvas, and banner printing.

Kryz has focused on landscapes, macro, and creative images, and has a real talent in Photoshop, and many other editing programs, and supports Keith in portrait sessions, and in editing portraits, including producing slide shows of images set to music, creating calendars, and graphic design.
